Personal Car
From Faro Lagos is an easy drive and is on the main N125. The journey is about 50 minutes and is motorway almost all the way. From the airport you will need to pick up the A22. After about 70 km you will see a sign for Lagos Este (EN 125). Take this exit (NR 2) and drive to the east of Lagos. After 1.5 km or so you will get to a roundabout, turn right at the roundabout until you reach EN 125 to Lagos. This road will take you straight to the entrance to Lagos.
Hire Car
There are plenty of car hire companies at Faro; we have used Luz cars as they came recommended to us and have an office in the centre of Lagos. We normally reckon on about 150 Euros for a week (depending upon time of year, size of car).
Shuttle Transfer
This is a shared ride in a mini-bus or coach. The ride is shared with other passengers and will leave at set times (normally every 45 minutes). Fares are priced per person and the vehicle will drop you off at your hotel (and pick you up there on the way back). Shuttle will be around €40pp return. Transfers will take an hour or so longer than a taxi but are much cheaper. Here are a few links:

Private Taxi
You can either book a taxi online or just take a taxi from the queue outside Faro airport. A return private transfer for up to four people should cost in the region of €130. We currently recommend Gentlebee Transfers. They are an excellent, local and friendly taxi company http://www.gentlebeetransfers.com/ and they have been excellent.
In order to get to the Faro train (or bus station) either get the bus from the airport (the stop is right outside the 'arrivals' doors) and will cost you around 1.50€, or get a taxi at a cost of around 10€.
The train from Faro to Lagos takes about 2 hours and the price is really low compared to the UK (about 6 Euros). However, the only snag is that trains only leave Faro about every 2 hours or so. You would need a taxi from the airport to Faro rail station and then it is about 10 minute walk from Lagos station to the apartment.

You can get a bus directly to Lagos taking about 1 hour & 45 minutes. The price is very cheap (about 5 Euros).

Once in Lagos you can take the bus to various location. The bus station is in the centre of Lagos, approximately 200 meters from the apartment. You can purchase your tickets from the ticket office inside the shed. A single fare is only €1.80 (not sure if you can get a weekly ticket) but there is a “re-chargeable multi-ride card” which will save you. There is a small fee for the card.
