This family restaurant restaurant is another little gem and is located an easy 5-10 minutes walk from the apartment, the other side of the new town hall offices. It is basically a traditional Portuguese grill/barbeque takeaway (chicken, steak, lamb, rabbit etc.) but there is also a restaurant. It is run by Sr. João, who used to run Churrasqueira Mana, (just under the bridge up town.) and his wife. You will not get a menu, but there is a daily menu on the white board at reasonable prices. The Police, Ambulance and Fire Brigade crews all go there for take-outs. The prices are incredible and the food is basic but lovely, order some chicken, lamb, rabbit or steak and a side salad, chips and/or rice. There are some nice desserts in the fridge - the creme caramel was homemade and one of the nicest I have ever had. I like to visit this place at least once on a holiday, especially as a great meal for two with drinks has cost us less than €20. |

This is probably one of the best restaurants we have ever been to. The service (family run) was amazing, friendly, helpful and very first class. The food was excellent, as a foodie, the combinations and the quality was superb (I had pan fried foie gras on ginger bread followed by scallops wrapped in bacon) . We took a cab from the taxi rank because it is slightly out of town (behind the fire station) but it was definitely worth seeking it out. Although it is more expensive than a lot of other restaurants in Lagos the value is amazing. We had three courses each and wine for €100 - a dinner like this anywhere else would have easily been €150pp. My wife had the special deal of 5 courses for €30 which was amazing value and is what I would choose the next time we visit ( 1 covert, 2 starters, 1 main course, dessert and coffee).
